Terms of Service

Effective: April 30, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Lord Of Chains ("the game", "we", "us"). By creating an account or playing the game, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the game.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to play (16 if you live in the EU/EEA). By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your password secure. If you suspect your account has been compromised, change your password immediately and contact us at support@lordofchains.com.
• You are responsible for everything that happens under your account.
• One account per person. Multi-accounting is prohibited. Operating, controlling, or coordinating with additional accounts (yours or someone else's) will result in all involved accounts being banned.
• Account sharing is not permitted. You may not allow another person to play on your account, and you may not play on someone else's account.
• Account trading is forbidden. You may not buy, sell, gift, lease, or transfer accounts. Accounts have no monetary value and remain our property.

3. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use bots, scripts, macros, automation, or third-party tools that interact with the game on your behalf. The game is meant to be played manually.
• Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended game mechanics. If you find one, report it to us instead of using it for personal gain.
• Attempt to access another player's account, our systems, or any data that is not yours, without authorization.
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, copy, or redistribute game data, code, or assets.
• Harass, threaten, dox, or send abusive content to other players. This applies in private messages, clan chat, profile fields, clan names, and anywhere else text appears in the game.
• Use offensive, racist, sexist, hateful, or sexually explicit usernames, clan names, or display content.
• Impersonate staff or other players.
• Use the game to send spam or unsolicited commercial content.
• Engage in real-money trading of in-game items, coins, accounts, or services. The official Coin shop is the only sanctioned way to exchange real money for in-game value.

Violations may result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent bans at our discretion.

4. In-game purchases

• Coins are virtual currency with no real-world monetary value. They cannot be exchanged for cash and are not legal tender. They exist only within the game.
• Coin purchases are processed through PayPal or Stripe. By purchasing, you also agree to the relevant payment provider's terms of service.
• All sales are final, except where applicable consumer protection law requires otherwise.
• EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal under EU Directive 2011/83/EU for distance contracts, but this right is waived for digital content delivered immediately upon purchase, with your express prior consent. By purchasing Coins, you give that consent and acknowledge that delivery starts immediately.
• If a purchase fails after Coins have been deducted from your account, contact us with your transaction ID and we will resolve it.
• Purchased Coins do not expire while your account is active. They are forfeit upon account termination for cause (a Terms violation).

5. Round resets and game changes

• Lord Of Chains is a competitive strategy game that may operate in rounds. Progress, armies, statistics, and rankings may be reset periodically as part of normal game operation. Your account, login credentials, achievements, and certain persistent records survive these resets.
• We may change game mechanics, formulas, balance, prices, and features at any time. Changes that make a strategy weaker or stronger are part of normal game balancing and not grounds for refund or compensation.
• We may add, remove, or modify features at any time, with or without notice.

6. Suspension and termination

• We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without prior notice, for violations of these Terms, applicable law, or for conduct we determine to be harmful to the game or its community.
• We may also terminate your account or shut down the game for business reasons, with reasonable advance notice when feasible.
• You may delete your account at any time. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.
• Upon termination, you lose access to your account and any unused Coins, items, achievements, or progress. We do not refund unused Coins on termination for cause.

7. Content and intellectual property

• Lord Of Chains, including its game code, graphics, original designs, original written content, and brand, is the intellectual property of its operator. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, or create derivative works without explicit written permission.
• User-generated content (clan names, profile descriptions, messages you send) remains your responsibility. By posting it, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, store, transmit, and moderate it for the purposes of operating the game.
• We may remove user content that violates these Terms or that we determine to be inappropriate, at our sole discretion.

8. Disclaimers

The game is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, except those that cannot be disclaimed under applicable law.

• We do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation.
• We do not guarantee that bugs will be fixed in any particular timeframe.
• We are not responsible for data loss, account loss, lost progress, lost Coins, or other damages caused by technical issues, server failures, third-party outages, or termination of the game.
• This section does not exclude or limit any rights you have as a consumer under applicable mandatory law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the game is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, or fifty euros (EUR 50), whichever is greater.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limitations. Where that applies to you, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted in your jurisdiction.

10. Indemnification

If your actions cause us to incur costs, claims, or damages (for example, by violating these Terms or someone else's rights), you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from those costs, including reasonable legal fees.

11. Changes to these Terms

• We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
• For material changes, we will notify you via in-game notification or email at least 14 days before they take effect.
• If you don't agree with the changes, your remedy is to stop playing and delete your account before the changes take effect.
• Continued use after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the game shall be resolved in the courts of Belgium.

If you are a consumer resident in the EU, this clause does not deprive you of the protections of the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country.

The European Commission provides an Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged to participate in alternative dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board, but we are willing to do so on a case-by-case basis.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full effect.

14. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the game, and supersede any prior agreements.
